GENERAL COMMENTS:

Apart from opening bids of $121 in parts of the South and $197-$198 in parts of the North, the cash cattle trade remained extremely quiet at midweek. Asking prices stayed firm at $125-$126 in the South and $202-plus in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.09 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement $81.00-$95.45, weighted average $92.30). The corn trade rallied 6 to 14 cents with spot September attracting the most buying interest. Stocks tumbled again in the final hour of trading to close near session lows in heavily volatile trading. ...
