GENERAL COMMENTS:

Light to moderate cash cattle trading surfaced in parts of Kansas and Texas at $119, steady with last week. The North was generally quiet with a significant market test delayed until Friday. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.49 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement $85.00-$103.00 (weighted average $100.24). Spot September corn plunged another 12 cents lower and all other new-crop contracts lost a bit more than a penny.
