GENERAL COMMENTS:

As expected, the cash cattle trade was not tested Tuesday with neither bids nor asking prices well-defined. A few showlists were priced around $121-$122 in the South and $195-$196 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.44 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement $90.00-$100.00, weighted average $98.03). Corn futures collapsed by 10-18 cents, pressured by improving growing crop prospects.
