GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was not tested at midweek with both bids and asking prices poorly defined. A few cattle buyers in the South surfaced briefly with bids of $117, far below nominal asking prices of $122-plus. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $0.55 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($85.50-$102.48, weighted average $99.07). Corn futures closed lower, down 6 3/4 in the September and down 8 3/4 in the December.
