Moderate cattle trade volume surfaced in Kansas before noon with most live sales at $126, $2 lower than last week. Though packer interest was evident in parts of the North, buyers and sellers just couldn't get together. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.37 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($77.00-$92.50, weighted average $90.15). Corn contracts closed mostly 8-12 cents higher, supported by short covering ahead of new S&D tables set for release on Friday.
