GENERAL COMMENTS:

According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed 0.88 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($68.00-$79.99, weighted average $77.99). The cash cattle trade remained dormant with packer bids unvoiced and higher asking prices only assumed (e.g., $130-plus in the South, $207-plus in the North). For the most part, corn futures finished modestly higher, supported by short covering and ideas that post report selling had become overblown.
