GENERAL COMMENTS:

According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed 0.17 higher compared with the Prior Day settlement ($61.00-$77.00, weighted average $74.52). The cash cattle trade was not tested today with just a few scattered bids reported here and there (e.g., $123 in the South, $196 in the North). Some showlists were priced around $127-$128 in the South and $200 to $202-plus in the North). The corn pit closed 3-5 cents higher in old-crop futures and fractionally lower in new-crop contracts.
