GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was generally quiet today with only a few starter bids of $125 evident in parts of the South. Generally speaking, both bids and asking prices remain poorly defined. A few asking prices were noted around $130 in the South and $205 to $207 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.09 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($70.95-75.76, weighted average $73.71). Corn futures closed mostly 1 to 4 lower. The spot March contract was 1/4 higher.
