GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle arena was as dead as a doorknob with both bids and asking prices poorly defined. A few showlists appear to be priced $125-$126 on a live basis. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed $1.73 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($69.00-80.50, weighted average $79.15). Corn futures finished 4-6 cents lower, apparently bothered more by sliding wheat prices than inspired by the soaring bean market.
