GENERAL COMMENTS:

The cash cattle trade was light to moderate in most areas at midweek, though much of the volume generated in Nebraska was tied to the selling of several large strings. Live deals in the South were marked at $125, $1 lower than late business last week. Most dressed business in Nebraska took place at $198, $4-$5 lower than last week. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed .12 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($75.50-87.00, weighted average $85.03). The corn market finished fractionally higher in old-crop contracts and 3-4 cents higher in new. ...
