Ukraine Planting Ahead of Last Year

MOSCOW (Dow Jones) -- Ukraine spring grain planting for this year's harvest, is picking up pace after a slow start, with 2.385 million hectares planted to April 2, which is 86% of the planned total planted area for early spring grains, the agriculture ministry said Wednesday.

The ministry didn't give last year's figures for comparison but, according to its past reports, Ukraine planted spring grains on 678,000 hectares to April 1, 2013.
