This last week, I, along with many others, took part in the Sixth Annual DTN/The Progressive Farmer Ag Summit in Chicago. Attendance was a record, with many coming to the three-day meeting looking for guidance on subjects including the farm bill, fiscal cliff, taxes, insurance, weather, markets and more.

As I look at the panorama of issues facing agriculture at the end of 2012, there are no clear answers. Each thing seems to be reliant on something else, which is dependent on an outcome of another issue related to a different problem. Perhaps like no other year that I've seen, ...
