In midday trade, the TSX is trading flat, down 8 points at 14,695. Canada's inflation rate for April was reported at 2%, Canada's targeted rate, .5% higher than in March and the highest level seen in two years. This move was expected by economists. The majority of the upward pressure in prices was seen in the energy markets. The Canadian dollar is 25 basis points higher at $.9197 CAD/USD while the U.S. dollar index is .110 higher at 80.415.
