Wheat futures were higher with Chicago September wheat futures up 9 cents cents at $6.64 1/4, September Minneapolis closed at 7.41 1/4 up 4 cents and September Kansas wheat at $7.06 3/4 up 10 1/2 cents. The SRW wheat basis firmed on reports of lower quality in the new-crop SRW wheat crop as the harvest nears completion. U.S. Wheat Associates reported last Friday that lower test weights and higher damage is more prevalent in the later-harvested samples.
