Outside Markets

Equity markets are on the defensive Wednesday, with the TSX down 151.53 points at 12,304.97. The Dow is down 97.38 points. Weak Chinese PMI data points toward weaker than expected rate of growth, while U.S. manufacturing data also came in below expectations. The Canadian dollar is 9 basis points higher at $.9923, while the U.S. dollar is .262 lower, currently at 81.545. Gold is $20.70/ounce lower, leaving the future at $1,451.40/ounce.
