OUTSIDE MARKETS

The Canadian TSX is 24.23 higher at 12,769.88 points. Suncor faced its first quarterly loss in 3 1/2 years, which has reduced interest in energy issues. The Dow is on the defensive, currently down 10 points. The Canadian dollar is 4 basis points lower at $1.0030 CAD/U.S. dollar, while the U.S. dollar is .247 higher at 79.780. Gold is $4.60/ounce higher at $1,677/ounce. Crude oil is 2 cents higher at $96.66/barrel, while the Brent future is 31 cents higher at $116.84/barrel.
