OUTSIDE MARKETS

The Canadian TSX equity market has gained back some of Thursday's losses, now up 76.82 points to 12,762.06. The U.S. economy created 157,000 jobs in January, with unemployment rising to 7.9% from 7.8% in December. U.S. equity markets hit the highest levels in five years in this morning's trade. The Canadian dollar is flat, up 4 basis points to $1.0019 CAD/U.S. dollar. The U.S. dollar is 0.086 lower at 79.140. Gold is up $8.10 to $1,668.70/ounce. Crude oil is 12 cents higher at $97.61/barrel, while Brent crude is up $1.12 to $116.67/barrel.
