Outside Markets

Equities in Asia were mixed Thursday, with Japan's Nikkei closing .7% lower. China's Consumer Price Index was announced at 2.4% ahead of a year ago, which was above expectations and bearish for markets. European stocks were mostly lower. Canada's TSX closed at 12,585.05 in Wednesday's trade, up 120.94. Dow futures are currently unchanged in overnight trade, indicating a steady open in Thursday's trade. The Canadian dollar is 3 basis points lower at $.9961 CAD/U.S. dollar, while the U.S. dollar is .044 higher at 81.995. Gold is $4.40/ounce lower at $1,469.40/ounce.
