Outside Markets

Asian markets are trading mostly lower Friday, with weak GDP data in Europe behind the move. Japan's Nikkei closed 1.2% lower. European markets are mixed. Canada's TSX equity market closed at 12,721.79, down 53.49 points in Thursday's trade. Dow futures were 6 points lower overnight, which may lead to a soft opening in North American equity markets Friday. The Canadian dollar is 8 basis points lower at $.9970 CAD/U.S. dollar, while the U.S. dollar is .062 higher at 80.600. April gold is $8.70 lower at $1,626.80/ounce.
