Outside Markets

Asian markets traded lower on Tuesday. Japan's Nikkei closed 1.9% lower. European markets traded higher, after a survey of manufacturing and services industries lead to activity being at a 10-month high. The TSX closed at 12,717.62 Monday, 51.21 lower. Dow futures are up 75 points overnight, which should lead to a firm open in North American equity markets Tuesday. The Canadian dollar is 6 basis points higher at $1.0016 CAD/U.S. dollar, while the U.S. dollar is .053 lower at 79.520. Gold is $3.80/ounce higher at $1,679.10.
