Outside Markets

Asian markets traded higher on Friday. Japan's Nikkei closed .5% higher. China's Purchase Manager's Index came in at 50.4, just slightly below December's 50.6 and below the 51 that was estimated by analysts. European markets also traded higher. Canada's TSX equity market faced triple-digit losses in Thursday's trade, closing down 109.20, to 12,685.24. Dow futures were up 63 points overnight, signaling what should be a strong opening to North American equity markets Friday. The Canadian dollar is 16 basis points lower at $.9999 CAD/U.S. dollar, once again flirting with par. The U.S. dollar is .166 lower at 79.060. ...
