Outside Markets

Asian stocks are mostly higher Thursday, while European stocks are mostly lower, citing concern over the U.S. debt ceiling issue. Toronto's TSX closed at 12,540.77 Wednesday, up 107.77 points. Dow futures are down 20 points overnight, pointing towards a potential weak opening in North American markets. The Canadian dollar is up 11 points to $1.0136 CAD/U.S. dollar, after its 89 basis point rally Wednesday. The U.S. dollar is .332 higher, at 80.280. Gold is $9.90 lower at $1,678/ounce.
