Spot ethanol prices traded lower in Arizona and in the Chicago area Friday afternoon as a short squeeze that recently boosted prices eased somewhat ahead of the weekend break, with seasonal demand also expected to slip as summer ends.

A lack of buying interest for ethanol delivered next week or later was also reported in many regional hubs including in Phoenix, Ariz., where prompt delivered ethanol was talked at $2.82 per gallon, down 2 cents. Today in-tank transfer ethanol at Argo traded at $2.91 and $2.92/gallon for a daily loss of 0.5 cents.
