EU, Canada Finalizing Free Trade Deal

BRUSSELS (AP) -- The European Union and Canada see a broad free-trade deal sealed Friday being ratified by 2015, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said.

In a press conference to announce the completion of negotiations on the deal, Harper said he expects the deal will be approved before Canada's next federal elections, which take place in 2015.

For his part, Barroso said he expected the deal to be signed and ratified by the EU's 28 member states and the European Parliament in 2015.
