GENERAL COMMENTS:

Cattle buying interest remains light even though trade volume for the week needs to develop. Token bids are noted in the South at $142, well below asking prices of $147 to $148. Dressed bids in the North are no better than $232 to $235, also below asking prices of $236 to $238. Trade volume may not develop until after the Cattle on Feed report this afternoon. Corn futures are moderately higher at midday. May is up 6 1/2, July up 7 1/4, Sep up 7 1/2 and Dec up 4 1/2. Stock markets are lower at midday.
