GENERAL COMMENTS:

Lean hog futures continue to hold sharp triple-digit gains with late-summer contracts leading the surge higher Tuesday. August futures are locked in limit higher trade as traders are not only focusing on short supplies for immediate needs, but that this situation will continue through most of the summer. Cattle futures are much more apathetic with mixed trade seen in live cattle contracts. Corn futures are higher at midday. May corn futures are higher by 5 cents per bushel. Stock markets are higher in light trade. The Dow Jones is 77 points higher while Nasdaq is up 39 points.
