GENERAL COMMENTS:

Activity in cattle-feeding country is limited to the distribution of new showlists. The early-year offering is generally larger than last week with only Kansas producers showing fewer ready steers and heifers. A few asking prices have been posted around $140 in the South and $222 plus in the North. According to the midday report, the national hog base is $2.03 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($74.00-75.69, weighted average $75.62).
