GENERAL COMMENTS:

Light cattle trading is evident in several areas near midday with $123 paid in parts of the South and $194 to $195 given in Nebraska and Iowa. Both live and dressed business is basically steady with last week. Trade volume should continue to slowly build over the next several hours. According to the midday report (with very light volume), the national hog base compared with the prior day's closing weighted average is $2.78 lower ($82.00 to $92.00, weighted average $90.46).
