GENERAL COMMENTS:

Initial live cattle gains quickly eroded. Nearby live cattle prices are mixed with uncertainty surrounding cash values, and grain market pressure limiting buyer interest. Lean hog futures have eroded as traders focus on cash hog market pressure late in the week. Corn futures are lower at midday. September corn futures are holding 10 cent losses at midday. Stock markets are mixed in light trade. The Dow Jones is 17 points lower while Nasdaq is up 6 points.
