GENERAL COMMENTS:

Activity in cattle country is limited to the distribution of new showlists. The early July offering of ready steers and heifers appears to be mixed, larger in Texas and Nebraska but smaller in Kansas and Colorado. Overall, feedlot supplies look about steady. A few asking prices have surfaced around $122-plus in the South and $195-plus in the North. According to the midday report, the National hog base compared with the Prior Day's closing weighted average is $1.44 lower ($89.50 to $98.50, weighted average $96.86).
