GENERAL COMMENTS:

Livestock futures are holding sharp gains as active buyer interest developed from both commercial and investment traders Wednesday morning. Trade volume has slowed through midday, but current gains seem to be firmly planted, and expected to hold through the end of the session. Corn futures are trading mixed in light trade at midday. May corn futures are holding 1 cent losses at midday. Stock markets are lower in light trade. The Dow Jones is 46 points lower while Nasdaq is down 10 points.
