On March 28, USDA will release its quarterly Grain Stocks report at 11:00 a.m. CDT. Average trade guesses are from 4.9 billion bushels to 5.1 bb for corn. If so, this would be nearly 930 million bushels less than a year ago and the lowest March 1 stocks level since 1998.

Total usage of corn for the Dec/Feb quarter is expected at 3.0 bb or about half a billion less than a year ago. The biggest unknown is feed and residual usage, which some estimate at 1.400 bb. This number on Thursday will provide first-half disappearance as a benchmark for ...
