It's late the night of October 31, Halloween, and I find myself alone at the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colo. Those of you who know the history of the place recall it is the same scenario author Stephen King and his family found themselves in back in 1974, inspiring him to write his horror novel "The Shining." With the hotel closing for the season November 1, just as it did in the book, I can see how this old hotel set the tone for his creepy tale.
