A recent committee of agricultural professors was assembled to find ways to make government reports better. Why? USDA realizes it is losing relevancy as its numbers -- annual, quarterly, monthly, etc. -- are coming under more scrutiny. While I applaud the committee for its efforts, the bottom line is that the biggest problems with government reports weren't addressed. With that in mind, let me provide what I think are legitimate solutions.

Limit reports to the objective, eliminating the subjective. In other words, the reports that are supposedly based on actual data should be continued, with the footnotes boldly proclaiming that ...
