Yes, true March Madness is almost here. No, I'm not talking about the hyped-to-the-point-of-hysteria NCAA basketball tournament that all but shuts down work across the U.S., particularly the first Thursday and Friday, but rather the hyped-to-the-point-of-hysteria USDA Prospective Plantings (and Quarterly Stocks) report set for release Thursday, March 28. It goes without saying that after the release, markets will likely make a large move one way or the other, increasing the risk to grain producers just as they begin the tightrope walk from planting season to harvest.
