8:30 a.m. CME Globex:Corn 7 1/4 higher, Soybeans 5 1/2 higher, Wheat 8 1/2 higher.Traders with previous short positions may simply be closing them out at a profit before the three-day weekend, but whatever the reason for Friday's gains in corn, soybeans and wheat, they're serving to pull these markets up from their lower trends.
