As I've mentioned many times before, I keep on my desk a dictionary I received as a senior in high school decades ago. I find it difficult to write my weekly column, or some of my other analysis, without consulting it at least once. This time around it has to do with the simple word "trend." The actual definition is interesting to consider from an analytical point of view with the January USDA reports just around the corner next Friday.
