Sharp gains quickly redeveloped through early morning trade across the entire livestock market. The moderate-to-sharp losses, which quickly developed midweek, appear to be enough to spark additional interest from both commercial and noncommercial buyers to jump back into the market. Lean hog futures are currently leading the market higher with nearby contracts trading well over $2 per cwt just before opening bell. Corn futures are trading higher in early electronic trade. Stock markets are trading higher. The Dow Jones Index is 98 points higher, while the Nasdaq is up 25 points.
