GENERAL COMMENTS:

Light trade developed in parts of the South this afternoon with live business steady (Texas) to $1.00 lower (Kansas). Better buying interest seems to be surfacing late in parts of Nebraska with some bids around 244.00-246.00. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base closed 1.65 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($125.00-$133.00, weighted average $130.47). Corn futures closed generally a nickel higher, supported by midweek short covering and buying in the bean pit. The stock market closed higher thanks to decent corporate earnings.
