GENERAL COMMENTS:

As expected, the cash cattle trade went untested today with neither bids or asking prices assuming meaningful definition. Some feedlot managers priced cattle around $160-$162 in the South and $255 in the North. According to the closing report, the Iowa hog base is .25 lower compared with the Prior Day settlement ($122.00-$133.00, weighted average $130.40). The corn market closed 1-2 cents lower with selling interest tied to sharp losses in old-crop beans and a general lack of concern for the growing new crop.
