About a week before the public blowup over the IRS's tax treatment of conservative organizations, we did an internal broadcast within our accounting firm. One of the messages from that broadcast was sounding the alarm over the increasingly aggressive approach we are seeing from the IRS, both at the exam and appeals levels. Some of the instances are competency issues, but more disturbing are the ethical lapses. Some examples:
