MOSCOW (Dow Jones) -- Ukraine's grain harvest in the year to date is greater than last year, despite inclement weather conditions and the current economic instability in the country, the agriculture ministry said Friday.

The volume of early grain harvested to August 28 is 35.514 million metric tons, compared with 32.118 metric tons in the same period a year earlier. The harvested area was 9.785 million hectares, compared with 10.9 million hectares. The percentage of total area to be harvested was 66%. The yield was 3.63 tons per hectare, compared with 3,15 tons per hectare a year earlier.
