OMAHA (DTN) -- If one is the superstitious type or suffers from triskaidekaphobia -- fear of the number 13 -- 2013 has probably been a tough year.

The number 13 has a reputation of being unlucky. Various explanations as to why exist, ranging from the head count at the Last Supper to when the Mayan calendar stopped, which supposedly indicated the end of the world as they knew it.
