Ethanol futures posted strong gains Tuesday following news of record ethanol production through the middle of June in the latest EIA monthly production report. The expectation that ethanol production may have peaked in June is creating additional buying support in the complex. August futures posted the largest gain, closing 4.3 cents per gallon higher, at $2.143 a gallon. Strong gains are seen in other nearby contracts with prices gaining 1 to 3 cents per gallon. Traders are looking for additional direction from outside markets before stepping back into the market through the rest of the week.
