Profitability improved this month with the milk/feed ratio increasing to 2.56, the highest since March. This compares with 2.36 in July and 1.68 last year. This puts income over feed costs at $14.44, up $1.01 from last month and the best since April. The all-milk price increased 40 cents to $23.70 per cwt. Alfalfa hay price declined $7.00 per ton to $209.00. The average corn price dropped 35 cents to $3.70. Soybean price declined 90 cents per bushel to $12.20.
