Milk production is increasing and crops are growing. Good dairy demand keeps cheese and butter prices strong. Good growing weather and crop conditions indicate lower grain prices as the year progresses. This should keep a profitable milk/feed ratio and income over feed cost. That is, unless something turns dairy prices substantially lower by the end of the year or there is a turn in the weather significantly reducing production. The Global Dairy Trade auction showed an increase of 0.9% for the trade-weighted average. This is the first positive average after eight consecutive declines.
