Cotton futures traded to a virtual standoff Thursday, finishing with fractional losses in slowed dealings.

Benchmark December settled off five points to 64.67 cents, settling in the upper half of its inside-day range from up 47 points at 65.19 to down 80 points at 63.92 cents.

December hit the session high overnight, fell to the low shortly after release of the U.S. weekly export sales-shipments report from USDA, bounced quickly to around 64.75 and chopped back and forth into the close.

Volume slipped to an estimated 13,500 lots from 17,438 lots the previous session when spreads accounted for 4,132 lots ...
