Back in late 1989 or early 1990 (I don't recall exactly when), I ordered a book that would turn out to be the last and only one I would need on the subject of technical analysis. John J. Murphy's "Technical Analysis of the Futures Markets" (1986 edition) held the key that unlocked the mystery of the profession for what was then a young analyst feeling his way from day to day. Since then, I have filled its pages with notes, highlighted countless sections and taped its spine more times than I can remember.
