Herbicide resistance and the domino effect it created in the weed-control industry did not sneak up on spray equipment manufacturers. They saw it developing and have put together a large tool chest to address it.

John Deere, for instance, last summer introduced a new line of sprayers with a particular goal in mind. "We tried to think of ways to overcome the challenges of glyphosate resistance," said Brea Harms, John Deere product line manager, application equipment.
