OMAHA (DTN) -- Some 117 biodiesel companies and related agriculture groups are going straight to President Barack Obama with a request to leave the Renewable Fuel Standard in place as intended, in a letter sent to the White House on Thursday.

Coming off a record production year, the biodiesel industry is poised to meet or exceed mandated production levels called for in the RFS. The industry letter told the president that a proposed cut in the standard would lead to lost production and layoffs. EPA is slated to release the final RFS volume for 2014 in June.
